Mauro Icardi can suit Mourinho's style of play at Manchester United: Nemanja Vidic
Mumbai: Inter Milan striker Mauro Icardi’s stock in European football has grown over the years that has made him over of the most sought-after players in the game.
One of Barcelona’s gems from the La Masia academy, the Argentine has lit up the Serie A having scored 96 goals in 170 games for Internazionale ever since joining from Sampdoria in 2013.
However, with doubts still looming over Inter Milan’s UEFA Champions League qualification under manager Luciano Spalletti, the 25-year-old is heavily being linked with a move to Manchester United and Real Madrid.

Nemanja Vidic, who played with the diminutive forward in Italy from 2014-2016, stated that Icardi could be an integral player for Jose Mourinho’s style of football at Old Trafford.
“Every player you buy has to fit the team. He’s a good player who is scoring the goals, so all the big teams are showing an interest in him. But what I have learnt playing all these years is not every player fits in every team. That is why Mourinho is of the most successful managers in football because he understands what players he needs,” the former Red Devils skipper told Deccan Chronicle on the sidelines of The Football Movement.
A lethal poacher in the box, Icardi is a dynamic forward who doesn’t depend on too many chances to find the back of the net. In recent seasons, he has constantly upped his work-rate by holding up the ball and linking play which also sees him drift wide to baffle his markers.
However, the Serbian has backed his former Inter teammate to test himself in the English top flight comprising of illustrious strikers such as Sergio Aguero, Harry Kane, Romelu Lukaku, Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang and Alvaro Morata.
“Icardi is a top player. So his signing will depend on what sort of football Mourinho wants to play next season. Certainly, he is someone who can improve the Premier League and challenge himself there.”
The Milan outfit is currently tied into a deal with Icardi until the summer of 2021 and has inserted a release clause worth £98million in his contract.
