Jose Aldo to face Max Holloway in UFC bout
Chennai: Two of the best strikers on the UFC roster lock horns in the main event of UFC 212 at Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, on Saturday. The fight for the featherweight belt has created a lot of buzz with defending champion Jose Aldo (26-2) taking on Max Holloway (20-3) who is on a 10-fight winning streak including some fine finishes over prominent names such as Anthony Pettis, Charles Oliveira, Cub Swanson and Andre Fili.
Brazilian Aldo and American Holloway both have one thing in common heading into their championship bout: they each suffered their last defeat at the hands of UFC superstar Conor McGregor. But American Holloway is the only fighter ever to take McGregor the distance at featherweight.
Aldo, however, is confident of ending Holloway’s run. “I’ll go forsward all the time, go after the victory. If it stays standing I’ll knock him out, connect several blows. But I’ve been training jiu-jitsu a lot, and if I have the chance on the ground I’ll catch him, for sure,” added Aldo.
Another highlight of the fight night will feature Brazil’s Claudia Gadelha who takes a 14-2 record into her clash with Poland’s Karolina Kowalkiewicz, who sits at 10-1.
