Aishwarya pips Ryhana to finish
Chennai: Bengaluru racer Aishwarya Pisse edged past local girl A. Ryhana Bee to clinch the third round of the All Ladies race in Round Three of the Honda One Make Series in Sriperumbudur near here on Saturday.
In front of a handful of crowd, Aishwarya, who finished third in the second round, clocked 9.49 minutes over the four laps to grab the top honours, ahead of Chennai’s Ryhana (9.49.56) and Shruthi N. of Chennai (10.6 mins) at the Madras Motor race track.
Local girl Ryhana Bee, who was close on Aishwarya’s heels throughout, missed the top spot by a fraction of a second to finish second.
Pooja Dadhi (10.14) managed a fourth place despite starting from the back of the grid. Pooja, who was leading in the championship till Friday, had a crash in the qualifying which hindered her chances of a podium finish.
Later speaking to the paper, Aishwarya said, “This was my fifth race in the season and I am glad to finish first. It’s been a great first season for the women racers, with the kind of support and enthusiasm we have received.”
“I have taken up racing professionally recently and such top finishes in the early part of your career really boosts your morale,” added the 21-year old, who aims for competing at MotoGP in the next few years.
In the men’s categories, Soorya P.M. dominated Race 1 of CBR 150R Novice championship with a timing of 9.02.2 minutes while Anish D. Shetty (9.02. 3) and Mahesh Murali M. (9.03.3 minutes) finished second and third, respectively.
In CBR 250R Open, Mathana Kumar and Hari Krishnan R. clinched the first two podiums in the Race 1. The race was keenly fought between the two, with Trichy’s Mathana eventually finishing on top in 12:20 minutes while local racer Hari a close second with a timing of 12:22 minutes. Another Chennai racer Ananth Raj P. clocked an respectable 12.32 minutes to emerge third in the same category.
