Practical selection sought in admissions: R K Purushottam

The Association also passed a resolution named the 32 Krida Vikas Kendras (KVK) in the name of Arjuna and Dronacharya awardees.

Vijayawada: The Andhra Pradesh Olympic Association (APOA) has demanded stringent action on those associations that issue fake certificates to students who aspire medical seats. “Pallipatti Rithvik, a native of Tirupati, got a certificate in the name of state champion of Andhra Pradesh without even participating in tournament. He secured medical seat in S.V. Medical College Tirupati with this and we have complained the same to sports secretary L.V. Subramanyam and Crime Investigation Department (CID),” APOA president R.K. Purushottam said.

He suggested SAAP to take up a practical selection for those who are seeking medical and other professional courses through sports quota. He alleged that Sports Policy of Andhra Pradesh is ignoring local talents of 13 districts in the name of infusing professionalism and cited the example of physical literacy programme launched by the state government. Professionals from Delhi, Gwalior, Telangana, and Gujarat were brought to evolve physical literacy policy, he added.

The APOA demanded cancellation of outsourcing agency alleging that agency demanded '50,000 from coaches without the knowledge of SAAP. “We have brought discrepancies in coaches’ selection to the notice of SAAP managing director and he promised to take action against agency,” he said. He said much-promised academies were yet to start and recruitments held for academies were conducted in improper way. The Association also passed a resolution named the 32 Krida Vikas Kendras (KVK) in the name of Arjuna and Dronacharya awardees.
It requested government to facilitate Vennam Jyothi Surekha, Saketh and Ganguly Prasad, who secured Arjuna and Dronacharya awards recently.
