India Open Fide Rating Chess tournament: Chakravarthy Reddy emerges champion
Telangana’s M. Chakravarthy Reddy wins the prize money of Rs 1,00,000 after beating Al Muthaiah of Tamil Nadu in a tie-breaker match of the 1st NITHM All India Open Fide Rating Chess tournament. On the top board Tamil Nadu’s Al Muthaiah kept his pieces right as he defeated statemate Bharat Subramaniam in 40 moves. On the second board, M. Chakravarthy Reddy of Telangana defeated Saurabh Khardekar of Maharashtra in Queen Pawn opening London system in 44 moves. On the third board Chhattisgarh’s Dhananjay drew with Sekar B. of Tamil Nadu in 41 moves with a Sicilian defence opening.
