VAC adds para-motoring to its adventure sports list
Vijayawada: The adventure buffs in the city are exploring new avenues by introducing exciting events.
The Vijayawada Adventure Club, which started with trekking, now expanded its events base to rappelling, para-sailing, night camps in the forests, exploring hidden spots in the deep forests. The latest adventure that it has added to VAC list was para-motoring.
The club members have great time flying high on the motor-propelled gliders at Uddandarayuni-palem.
The open Amaravati foundation-laying ground was chosen for the event and around 25 members have participated, including five women. K. Suresh, the founder member of the VAC said, “We have taken all safety measures and experts have guided the rides.”
The event has started at 6 am in the morning and continued till 6 pm in the evening. Every participant gets six to 10 minutes of flytime. “We did not get much problems with the direction and speed so that all the participants have got reasonable amount of flytime,” said U. Raghunath Reddy.
The participants were jubilant after flying high in the air. K. Brahmam said the experience of flying in the air was unbelievable and it will stay with him for long. He said the view of the capital and the Krishna River from 1000ft above was incredible. Mr Manoj Kumar, another participant, described it as awesome. “We get a feeling as if we are having wings for some time and wanted to do this again, “ he added.
VAC founder member Suresh Kaluva has said that the club was trying to give exciting experiences to its members. “We are going to conduct para-motoring activity regularly from now and we are in the process of acquiring equipment,” he said.
