Masters League: Pankaj Advani leads Chennai Strikers to victory
Ahmedabad: Chennai Strikers registered their first win in the Indian Cue Masters League (Cue Slam) with comprehensive 4-1 win over Delhi Dons at Rajpath Club here on Sunday.
Chennai Strikers' Pankaj Advani and Vidya Pillai defeated Kelly Fisher and Manan Chandra of Delhi Dons in the mixed doubles 6-Red ball snooker 22-18, 26-11 to wrap up the game 2-0. Dharminder Lilly defeated Malkeet Singh 2-0 in the 9-Ball Pool to take 2-0 team lead.
Lilly kept his domination in the Pool event by combining with Vidya to outplay Laura Evans and Pushpender Singh 2-0 in Pool doubles to gain an insurmountable 3-0 lead. In the Icon Players clash Advani had a handsome 30-0 lead in the first frame before Kelly made a comeback to close the gap (31-19) but ran out of time.
In the second frame Kelly advanced into lead but Advani zoomed back to win the second frame 36-26 and wrapped up the game 2-0 to make it 4-0. In an inconsequential last game Delhi Dons got consolation win through Manan who got the better of Faisal Khan 32-19 in Snooker Singles clash. Hyderabad Hustlers made a good start to their Cue Slam campaign by beating hosts Gujarat Kings 4-1 in the second tie of the day.
