KOZHIKODE: Kannur district was declared the overall champions with 64 points at the conclusion of the three-day state-level police sports meet held at Olympian Abdurahiman Stadium on the medical college campus on Saturday. Under the battalion category, Thrissur Indian Reserve Battalion won with 67 points.
Palakkad district came second after Kannur with 34 points, while Malappuram was declared third with 33 points. Thrissur and Wayanad followed with 27 and 21 points respectively. The host, Kozhikode district, came sixth with 15 points.
Rahul G. Pillai and S. Sini bagged the title of the best sports stars of the event and the fastest sports stars of the meet. DGP Loknath Behera, North ADGP Sudesh Kumar and Kannur Range IG Dinedra Kashyap attended the closing ceremony. The DGP handed over the trophies for the winners. Kannur police chief Sanjay Kumar Gurudin along with his colleagues received the champion's trophy of the district. Thrissur district will be the host for the 46th police athletic meet, announced the DGP.
