Services volleyball tournament ends
Hyderabad: The closing ceremony of the 72nd Inter Services Volleyball Championship for 2022-23 was conducted at Eagles Indoor Volleyball Stadium, 1 EME Centre, Secunderabad on Tuesday, in which two teams of Indian Army (Red & Green), one team of Indian Navy and one team of Indian Air Force participated.
The event provided an opportunity to sportsmen for getting selected to the Services Volleyball team. The Army Red team emerged victorious with a score of 3-1 (25-21, 19-25, 25-17, 26-24).
Brig. K Somashankar, Officiating General Officer Commanding-in-Chief, Telangana and Andhra Sub-Area, presented medals to Army Green Team, the runner up, and the Inter-Services Volleyball Championship trophy 2022-23 and medals to Army Red Team. The Indian Navy team secured third position and the Indian Air Force team was fourth.
Brig. Suresh G., Commandant, 1 EME Centre, had inaugurated the championship on November 19. Six matches were conducted on a league cum knock-out basis.
The Army volleyball node was established at 1 EME Centre in 2003 and since then has been responsible for the training and maintenance of the Indian Army Services team for volleyball.
