Turn a healthier leaf!
#Eatinghealthy# greens# fitterme# lifestylegoals – in a refreshing twist to usher in the spirit of the festive season, you probably would have chanced upon a glut of fitness hashtags against posts on social media.
Consumed by guilt or simply a steely determination to turn to a ‘healthier’leaf; it is that time of the year when introspections begin and resolutions to make it better in the next, tumble out. Milking the vibe of the season, young Bengalureans tell us about some of the interesting concepts that have been conjured up to usher in the forthcoming festivities on a healthier note...
“Christmas Run’16 was conceptualised to introduce fitness in a new light to seasoned and amateur runners in Bengaluru. Basically put, its a running event with a theme around Christmas. The idea was simple: festivities are all about spreading cheer and indulging in a good time. So, how about we bring about a healthier twist by introducing fitness on the day of a festival by ensuring people take to the tracks and have as much fun — without being guilty about piling up on the calories in the name of merry-making?” shares Vikash Singh, an entrepreneur, Sportzify, who plans on hosting the marathon on December 25.
While taking the tracks would rather excite the perpetually health-conscious, young baker Trishala Ashok aims to sprinkle a wee bit of health through her nutri-cupcakes, Fitbakes.
“I’ve always believed that one mustn’t deprive themselves of anything. And the plan to bake nutrient rich muffins and brownies was to reassure that eating healthy needn’t necessarily come in the way of indulging in the forthcoming festivals. When you can swap steeply priced high-calorie options to economical and healthier alternatives, why wouldn’t you?” opines Trishala.
In a bid to offer a platform for ardent health enthusiasts, the FitTurtle trainer meet is an activity which aims to help city folk hone their fitness skills. “People today are doubly careful about taking fitness seriously, all thanks preventive health care activities. However, I’ve observed that even those who want to pursue fitness seriously aren’t really armed with adequate qualification and exposure. Hence, the activity aims to attract experts and aspiring trainers under one roof. We aim to use our official Facebook page to attract the true-blue fitness lover. This festive season, it’s time to pull up your socks and get a deeper insight into fitness so that you are well-equipped to lead the pack!” says Saket Agrawal, one of the core members behind the initiative.
