Happy birthday master blaster
Sachinism will keep intensifying as long as the sport of cricket exists. Master blaster Sachin Tendulkar is celebrating his birthday on April 24. Let’s glimpse through his life and illustrious career. “There are two kinds of batsmen in the world. One, Sachin Tendulkar. Two, all the others” — Andy Flower
1 Besides cricket and music, Sachin was also a big fan of tennis as a child. He was the diehard fan of a legendary player and styled like him. When all his friends and family supported Bjorn Borg, he was as the only one supporting his favorite star. Later everyone started calling him by the Tennis star’s name and he persuaded his father to buy the same headbands and sweatbands and even grew long hair like him. Who are we referring to?
2 As a child, Sachin was very obstinate. He desperately wanted to own something and requested his father to get one for him which he couldn’t due to the financial issues. He sulked inside the balcony for a week in protest. One day, his head got stuck inside the grille in the balcony and created a nightmare to the parents and the others in the apartments. After thirty minutes of drama, his head was pulled out of it and his father gave him what we wanted. What was Sachin’s wish?
3 A very famous child actor queued with other fans to get signatures from Sachin Tendulkar during the final day of the Lord’s Test match between India and England in 2007. Who are we talking about?
4 During one of the India-Pakistan matches in 1989, Sachin hit Mushtaq Ahmed for a couple of sixes and a boundary in the first over. This prompted an experienced bowler of Pakistan to come up to him and say “No point in hitting sixes off a newcomer; if you have the skills, try and hit me”. Sachin didn’t lose his composure and later when he came to bowl, Sachin smashed sixes and fours and took 28 runs off the over. At the end, the player said to Sachin “Very well batted”. Identify the Pakistani player.
5 In the early days, Sachin and Anjali couldn’t enjoy the way other couples usually did. They couldn’t go to a movie, stop at roadside eateries in the evening or take a walk along the beach. One day, Sachin defied the odds and took Anjali, her father Anand and some of their friends to watch a long awaited favourite movie in Worli, South Mumbai in 1993. Sachin concealed his identity by putting on a wig, a false moustache and glasses. Soon he broke the glasses and the crowd recognised him and he had to rush home without completing the movie. Which movie are we talking about?
