Bangalore Turf Club elects new stewards at AGM
Bengaluru: Mahendra Kugashankar (175 votes), V Harimohan Naidu (162 votes) and AC Satish Chandra (159 votes) were elected as Stewards at the annual general meeting held on the Bangalore Turf Club premises late on Monday evening. THR Rajeev (198 votes) and K Jayaram (180 votes) also joined the committee members.
Having failed earlier to convince the Chief Minister Siddaramaiah to allow the resumption of racing activities by renewing the license of the club which was withheld in the first week of September, the newly formed committee is expected to put an end to the licensing issue.
The elected stewards, two committee members and the four government nominees ISN Prasad, T Sunil Kumar (City Police Commissioner), L Vivekananda and HS Srikanth will take five more members to form a managing committee, after which the managing committee will select the Chairman on Wednesday.
The interim chairman Harinder Shetty, who was ousted after a short stint and returned to the post again following the resignation of Y Jagannath, has decided not to contest. “With the help of the newly formed managing committee we will try to put an end to the crisis and hope to resume racing activities as soon as possible,” said former chairman Harimohan Naidu.
