India Clear Favorites to Win T20 World Cup 2024?
After outplaying England to avenge their loss in the 2022 T20 World Cup semifinals, India will face South Africa in the final of the T20 World Cup 2024 at Kensington Oval, Barbados.
The Men in Blue are on top form in all the departments and they will aim to win their second T20 World Cup today.
India has reached the finals after defeating the major teams like Pakistan, Australia and England. Team India will aim to end their 11-year ICC title drought.
Given their current form, the Men in Blue stand a good chance of winning the T20 World Cup against the Proteas. The players have excelled in both batting and bowling, contributing significantly to the team's success.
Former England captain Eoin Morgan named India as the favourites to win the T20 World Cup 2024. "They are favourites for me. I think that they’re just the quality that they have on paper," he said.
If we look back right from the group stages to the semifinals, the team has stayed unbeaten due to strong performances in both batting and bowling. Whenever the batting faltered, the bowlers stepped up to secure victories. Similarly, when the opening pair was dismissed early, the middle-order batters formed crucial partnerships to either chase down targets or set defendable scores.
Team India skipper Rohit Sharma has shown how to play fearless cricket in this tournament. He has given a good start for India in this tournament especially targeting the powerplay overs. Although Rohit Sharma's opening pair, Virat Kohli, had a quiet tournament, the skipper was backed by Suryakumar Yadav, Hardik Pandya and Shivam Dube. All-rounders Axar Patel and Ravindra Jadeja chipped in quick runs for the team in the tournament.
When it comes to bowling, the pacers and spinners have delivered for the team. Jasprit Bumrah and Arshdeep Singh have given crucial breakthroughs and picked 15 and 13 wickets respectively. India's spinners - Ravindra Jadeja, Axar Patel and Kuldeep Yadav are on top form. In the semifinals, we saw how the spinners toppled the England batting lineup.
With Rohit Sharma's fearless batting and composed leadership, supported by players such as Suryakumar Yadav, Hardik Pandya, and Shivam Dube, along with the bowlers' top-notch performance, India could be considered the clear favorites to win the World Cup.
