India's FIFA World Cup Dreams Dashed by Controversial Qatar Equaliser in 2-1 Loss
India's FIFA World Cup 2026 Qualifiers campaign came to an end after their 2-1 loss to Qatar in the Round 2 match on Tuesday.
India was ahead in the first half after a goal by Lallianzuala Chhangte in the 37th minute and they were marching towards a place in the round 3 but all their dreams were shattered at the 73rd minute, when Qatar scored the equaliser which never looked like a fair goal ledt Indian football fans outraged with referee and also with the linesman.
In the 73rd minute, Qatari player Al Hasmeni Al Hussein pulled back the ball which had gone past the limits of play and Youssef Ayman tapped it into the back of the net.
In the 85th minute, Qatar scored their second goal and sealed their victory, ending India's campaign.
Indian fans took to social media and called the decision as "Blatant cheating" and #Shame started to trend on X.
