Rains threaten T20 WC matches in Florida, likely scenarios for USA, Pakistan explained

Hyderabad: Florida is facing a rare yet devastating flash floods, the City has been receiving incessant rains of almost 50 cm from Tuesday in most areas due to which many flights have been cancelled and vehicles were waterlogged. The weather department had predicted that the rains would continue for a few more days.

Amid these harsh conditions, three of the interesting pool stage matches of the T20 World Cup are to take place at the Central Broward Regional Park in Lauderhill, Florida.
Co-hosts USA will take on Ireland on Friday, India will take on Canada on Saturday, and Pakistan will take on Ireland on Sunday.
The rain threat is not an issue for team India since they have already been qualified to Super 8. But it is surely a concern for the aspiring USA and Pakistan. The bad weather prompted the former captain of Pakistan to urge the ICC to change the venue of matches.
What happens if the games get washed out:
Friday's USA-Irland clash is a key game not just for the host nation but also for the Babar Azam led Pakistan. If the weather allows for a match and if the USA manage to find a win, it will be history as USA qualifies to the Super 8 for the first time. but if the rain abandons play, USA with 5 points stands second in the points table, nonetheless qualifies to the Super 8.
For Pakistan to have any chance of qualifying to the Super 8, the Friday match should take place and Ireland should disappoint the US. Then the men-in-green after beating Ireland in their next encounter will have a chance to advance into the next stage.
The India-Canada match is not so significant as the blues have qualified to the Super 8 and Canada is out of the race.
