Shubman Gill led young Indian side jets off to Zimbabwe for T20 series

Hyderabad: Young Indian side led by Shubman Gill took off to Zimbabwe to play the 5 match T20I series scheduled from July 6. However, Gill was not travelling with the team and will join them soon.

The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) had announced a 15-member squad for the T20 series and named VVS Laxman as the temporary coach. Five members in the squad were with team India in West Indies playing the T20 World Cup including Samju Samson, Yashaswi Jaisal and Shivam Dube who were part of the WC squad, while Rinku Singh and Khaleel Ahmed were part of the travel reserve. All the five players are to join the Indian squad on a later date.
The Indian players departed on Monday night. BCCI took to 'X' and posted the pictures of players departing to the African country, players including Rayan Parag, Abhishek Sharma, Ruturaj Gaikwad and coach VVS Laxman were seen in the photos.
Meanwhile, the BCCI general secretary, Jay Shah had earlier announced that a decision will be taken by the selection committee on the new T20I captain for team India soon and the new coach will take charge after the tour. However, he did reveal who the new coach was.
