Swiss Indian Sports League concluded on 15th February and Warangal Warriors emerged as the champions of the inaugural season. Warangal Warriors defeated Kakatiya Knight Riders by 6 runs in a thrilling final of the first season. Winning team were presented with the trophy by honorable Telangana Chief Minister, A. Revanth Reddy garu during his recent visit to Davos.
Warangal Warriors played consistent cricket by winning 4 out of 5 league games and finished at the top of the league table. Hyderabad Hitters finished second while Kakatiya Knight Riders were the third team to qualify for the playoffs. Raviteja Perni was named Man of the series for his all round performance through the tournament.
On the eve of Sankranthi 2025, Swiss Telugu NRI Forum proudly launched franchise-based cricket league, for the first time in Switzerland. Inaugural edition had 6 teams named after prominent places and regions in Telugu states. The concept of the league is to promote a healthy, competitive sporting culture while connecting the community back to the roots in India, with people identifying with different regions in Telugu speaking states. Below are the 6 teams taking part in the inaugural edition
1. Amaravati Titans owned by Srinivas Godugunuri and Vidyadhar Teketi
2. Godavari Super Kings owned by Rama Krishna Palika
3. Hyderabad Hitters owned by Balajee Kinthada and Rama Krishna Prayaga
4. Kakatiya Knight Riders owned by Seshu Mamillapalli and Srinivas Kothupalli
5. Vizag Vikings owned by Prasad babu and Amar Kavi
6. Warangal Warriors owned by Kishore Thatikonda and Sridhar Gande
The inaugural edition was played on 12th January 2025 at the Indoor Ground concluded on 15th Feb 2025. The matches were of high quality and played with great spirit. The Teams have practiced extensively over the last few weeks, so they can bring out their best on the field.
