Hyderabad: Two biggest rivals in world cricket are set to face off each other in the most anticipated T20 World Cup match at the Nassau County International Cricket Stadium in New York on Sunday evening.
Rohit and Co are confident after their first win against Ireland, while the Men-in-green look to bounce back after the humbling defeat against the United States.
Historically, team India overpowered Pakistan clearly by winning 6 of the 7 face-offs in the shorter format world cup, but let's look at the strengths and weaknesses of both the teams to identify their winning probability.
Pakistan was given a reality check by the USA after defeating them in the super over. The Babar Azam-led side has one of the best bowling units in the tournament. But the new member of ICC has played the experienced bowling unit without much difficulty. The stable batting unit of Pakistan also failed to impress against the host nation.
On the other hand, team India have clearly out powered the Irish after registering a comfortable victory. With a clear dominance in bowling and batting India emerged as favorites in the tournament.
However, Indian right handed batters do not have a good record against the left handed pacers of Pakistan. Rohit Sharma scored 52 runs in 62 balls and was dismissed 3 times in 6 innings (ODI and T20is) while facing Shaheen Shah Afridi. Virat Kohli scored 56 runs in 60 balls and was dismissed twice in 6 innings while facing Amir.
On the other hand, Pakistan's key batters including Captain Babar and his deputy Rizwan failed against the Indian spinners and pacers. Babar, while facing Kuldeep, has scored just 28 runs in 52 balls and was dismissed twice in 4 innings.
However, team India will have an edge over Pakistan due its morale and a better understanding of the conditions at the Nassau Stadium.
