Indian players who scored highest in each edition of T20 World Cup
Hyderabad: The much awaited T20 World Cup took off on a powerful note and the hosts (USA) registered their first victory in the tournament against Canada at the Grand Prairie Stadium in Texas on Sunday.
Earlier, team India took on Bangladesh in their only warm up game and clinched it by 60 runs.
Team India will take on Ireland, Pakistan, USA and Canada on June 5, 9, 12 and 15 respectively. As team India prepares itself for the upcoming matches, lets travel back in time and look at the highest score by an individual for team India in each edition of the T20 World Cup.
2007:
Team India former player Gautam Gambhir has scored the highest individual score in a match in the first edition of the short format World Cup. He scored 75 off 54 balls in the finals against Pakistan.
2009:
Yuvraj Singh's fighting knock of 67 from 43 balls is the top score (Individual) in a match in the edition for team India.Batting first team India did not get the start they wanted and Yuvraj was the only player to score above 31 runs against the West Indies, who won the match by 7 wickets.
2010:
Suresh Raina became the first Indian batsman to score a century in every format (International) after he scored 101 off 60 balls against South Africa in the 3rd edition of the T20 World Cup. The calculated innings was also the highest score for that season and also the highest individual score till date by an Indian in the T20 World Cup.
2012:
Putting the domination of the left handed batters to a side, Virat Kohli's 78 (61) against Pakistan is the highest individual score for India in the fourth season of the ICC event.
2014:
Virat Kohli's 77(58) against Sri Lanka in the 2014 finals remained the highest score in tourney for India.
2016:
After a good start in the semis against the West Indies, Virat kohli with a strike rate of 189.36 has scored 89 runs, which was the top score (for India) for the season.
2021:
Rohit Sharma's 74 off 47 against Afghanistan was the highest score for the team in that season.
2022:
In a match that is still fresh in the memories of Indian cricket fans, Virat Kohli's heroic 82 against Pakistan is the top score (for India) in the last season.
