T20 World Cup: What happens if rain washes out Ind-Eng semis?
Hyderabad: Unbeaten India is set to face confident England in the second Semi-final clash of the T20 World Cup on Thursday at the Providence Stadium in Georgetown in Guyana.
As both teams prepare for the anticipated face-off the weather reports remain a cause of concern. According to AccuWeather, Georgetown has a 90 percent chance of precipitation on match day. So, what happens if the game gets washed out?
In case if the rain interrupts the match and forces to completely abandon the game then there is no luxury of a reserve day like in the first semis. However, there will be an additional 4 hours and 10 minutes to finish the game.
If there is no result even after the completion of the extra time, then India will be qualified to finals due to their higher points in the super eight stage. The men-in-blue topped the table by winning all the three matches, while England was at number two, losing one to South Africa.
