Team XSPARK Lifts BGIS 2024 Championship Trophy

Hyderabad: There were lusty cheers by around 5,000 delirious spectators when Team XSpark claimed BGIS 2024 championship held aloft the glittering trophy in Sunday’s grand finale at Hitex. The winner pocketed Rs.60 lakh.

The much-anticipated Battlegrounds Mobile India Pro Series (BMPS) 2024 was also announced on the occasion, thereby unveiling the 2024 roadmap for Krafton India's esports initiatives.

Krafton India's steadfast commitment to promote esports had a humane touch when they donated Rs.25 lakh raised from the sale of elite passes to the Abhinav Bindra Foundation. Its founder and India’s first Olympic gold medallist, shooter Abhinav Bindra was present on the occasion

In his thanksgiving speech, Bindra said, “I have immense respect for gamers. The physical training, nutrition, mental prowess, and recovery time required are some of the commonalities between conventional sports and esports. I'm grateful to KRAFTON and the esports community’s support for the Abhinav Bindra Foundation, which fosters sports excellence and inclusivity.”

Karan Pathak, associate director of esports at Krafton India, said “BGIS signifies our commitment to the growth of esports in India. It is heartening to see several upcoming teams showcase incredible talent while rubbing shoulders with seasoned campaigners. Together let’s look ahead for more esports experiences and, of course, for BMPS 2024.”

The team that stood second, Global Esports, took home Rs.30 lakh while Reckoning Esports received Rs.20 lakh for finishing third. Teams securing fourth to sixteenth positions also received cash rewards ranging from Rs.15 lakh to Rs.2.50 lakh from the two crore prize-money.
