HYDERABAD: Sahaja Yamalapalli from Telangana entered the finals of Telangana State Tennis Association AITA Ranking Tennis Tournament by defeating compatriot Smriti Bhasin in straight sets win 6-1, 6-2 at the SATS Tennis Complex, Lal Bahadur Stadium in Hyderabad on Thursday.
Sahaja came up the hard way. An unseeded player, she has zero points in the All-India women’s category. She played three rounds in the qualifying and entered the main draw without dropping a single set.
She will now take on C. Sravya Shivani in the title clash. Sravya cruised into the women’s final with a 6-4, 6-0 win over Sunskruti Damera.
In the men’s singles, Prithvi Sekhar bundled out Theyjo J. Oges 6-1, 6-0 to set up the title clash with B. Sai Saran Reddy.
