ITF Juniors Grade 5 tennis tournament: Shrivalli Rashmikaa emerges champion
Second seeded Shrivalli Rashmikaa took home top honours from Vietnam after toppling top seeded Yujiao Che of China with a 6-4, 6-2 verdict in the final of ITF Juniors Grade 5 tennis tournament in the girls singles category played at Ho Chi Minh City in Vietnam. Gritty Rashmikaa came all the way to final batting hard and never gave up on her aim of winning the title. In the first set, the Hyderabadi tennis player was very dominant and continued till the end to have the last laugh. She fought hard to bring the best and beat her rival in the first set. In the second set the winner’s dominance became too heavy to handle for Che as the match closed with a 6-2 scoreline in favour of Rashmikaa.
In the semifinal, Rashmikaa defeated Pei-Yu Lai 4-6, 7-6 (4), 6-3. It was a come from behind victory as Rashmikaa lost her first set 4-6 but punched hard in the next two sets.
In the quarterfinal, Rashmikaa sealed a 6-3, 6-4 victory over China’s J. Wang. It was an easy victory as she could beat her rival in straight sets.
