Threat to Rohit-Virat's place in team India if Gambhir takes over as head coach?
Hyderabad: Multiple reports surfaced online claiming that team India star players Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli will be put under scanner once Gautam Gambhir takes charge as the team's head coach.
According to reports, BCCI had received only two applications for the head coach position, one of which was Gambhir's. It was also reported that the veteran player was interviewed for the post by the BCCI's cricket administrative committee (CVC).
Former team India player, Gambhir in his interview had reportedly set some conditions for his acceptance. One among them was that senior players in the team including Rohit, Kohli, Shami and Jadeja shall be sacked if they fail to perform during the next year's 'Champions Trophy' in Pakistan.
However, it is still uncertain in which format he wanted these players to get removed from. He also asked for a separate test team and his choice of support staff among others.
Rahul Dravid's tenure as team India's head coach will end after the ongoing T20 World Cup in USA and West Indies.
