Keeping it safe at a cost
Precious items demand safe keeping. Gone are the days when secure storage meant a wall safe hidden behind the Picasso in the office. Today’s safes are exclusive and unique. If you fancy high-class safes, you must have a look at the collection listed out here.
GrandCircle
The Döttling GrandCircle is not any ordinary safe, it is a masterpiece. Fifty-two individually controllable watch winders enclose a limited, hand-made Naeschke pendulum clock with an unusual run time of four weeks after one winding. The base of the GrandCircle also accommodates the world’s smallest hi-fi subwoofer by Elac, a VDS Class 2 high-security safe with certified fire protection, eight further watch winders and jewelry drawers, a climate-controlled humidor made of Spanish Cedar wood, and an exclusively implemented minibar. It is available for $265,600 in the market.
Watch Winder Safe
Created by Döttling and Hublot, this $206,000 watch winder safe weighs around 180 kg. It has a cylindrical shape; the inner tube turns within an outer shell. Its two sets of winders can hold up 21 watches per panel, a total of 42 timepieces. However, the safe isn’t just a safe and a watch winder — but also a stereo. It includes an iPad. Using wi-fi you can control the safe with the iPad.
Narcissus
This exquisite safe, designed by Karl Lagerfeld, is largely acknowledged as the most expensive safe in the world. It is just under six feet tall and around a foot deep. The two hand-crafted interior cabinets containing watch winders and jewelry drawers emerge from its steel body, which weighs 800 kilos and is sheathed in high-gloss, chrome-plated aluminum. Fully automatic, only 30 Döttling Narcissus safes were produced; Karl kept one for himself. It will cost you a whopping $336,000 to own this magnificent safe.
The Treasury
This stunning safe, from the House of Buben & Zorweg, comes with LED lighting technology and eight free miscible Buben & Zorweg modules. You will find the time piece at the centre. It features a flying tourbillon with 11 jewel bearings. One can reserve wrist watches, exquisite cigars and fine wines. The price of this spectacular safe is $283,000.
