Bobby Tries New Role In Bandar

He portrays a person unfairly villainised in the #MeToo movement

Bobby Deol plays a person who is wrongly accused in the ‘#MeToo’ movement in Anurag Kashyap’s Bandar, a role, he says, pushed him out of his comfort zone and made him let go of his natural shyness.

“Every actor wants to do something, an image is set and it gets very difficult to get out of it; we get typecast. I went through this myself. But I must say this film was totally out of my comfort zone. I kept my shyness aside and did this film ‘shamelessly’,” he shares.

He plays an actor falsely accused of rape by his ex-girlfriend and even undergoes a harrowing stint in a dingy jail. Bobby went without a proper bed, food and basic amenities while playing this role.

The character’s experiences are loosely based on director’s own brush with the #MeToo movement, though he was able to stay out of jail by proving he was in another part of the world.
