Engaging the Senses
With multiple national exhibits coming to Hyderabad and major artists showcasing their works, it seems that the art scene in town is alive and kicking. Continuing the purple patch is Chromatic Conversation, a recent one-day art exhibition that brought together over 30 artists and 100 artworks for a show where audiences had a chance to soak in diverse styles in art (from acrylic to oils) and medium (from canvases to sculptures and photographs).
Held in Secunderabad Club (but open to all), the event also brought art outside the confines of regular galleries which is a welcome relief. Ratna Vuppala of Artiste Culture, who organised the event states, “The idea was to bring it to Secunderabad where not many art shows are held. The location also helps give us a set audience that is interested in art. Also, I wanted to ensure that there are opportunities for collectors and art enthusiasts to engage directly with artists.”
Apart from the diverse range of artworks across mediums and styles that were displayed, the event also saw engaging workshops for adults, including sip and paint sessions which saw many people (including senior citizens) trying their hand at creating colourful canvasses.
From artists like Fawad Tamkanath and Nirmala Biluka to Payal Verma and Raju Tota, there was a lot of diversity on display, be it in the form of artists across the country or the subjects they chose to portray. Scenes from nature, vignettes of rural life, photographs that celebrated the stillness of life and abstract art that made you jog your grey cells – there was something for everyone making the show truly holistic.
Sravanthi Noru from Chennai, who creates ethereal watercolors merging delicate brushstrokes with vivid imagination, says, “I want to invite viewers into a world of serene beauty and introspection. I find beauty in small things that happen in daily lives and being at this show that is vibrant and full of energy is really encouraging.”
Transcending the boundaries of traditional art exhibitions and offering a multifaceted experience that celebrates the vibrancy of contemporary art, the exhibition ignited many a conversation about the power and potency of art. It was heartening to see many young adults and children at the show, who can find ample inspiration in the diverse work on display.
Every show offers us the opportunity of exhibiting something new. I showcased the richly detailed traditional life of a village in Telangana from bindis to amulets and sarees in my work. Participating in group exhibitions, we gain invaluable insights, exchanging creative techniques and ideas with peers. Observing diverse artistic expressions is always an inspiration.” — Kandi Narsimlu, Artist
Exhibiting at such an eclectic venue not only offers exposure to a discerning audience but also celebrates the cultural vibrancy of Secunderabad. I had an amazing time meeting artists of different backgrounds and having engaging interactions with diverse audiences.” — Ramani Mylavarapu, Artist
