Vikram Bhatt, Ajay Murdia and Mahesh Bhatt have announced four films under their new venture, Indira Entertainment. The films — Tumko Meri Kasam, Tu Meri Poori Kahani, Viraat and Rann — are of different genres. And so, it appears, are the character choices of Adah Sharma, who is part of the cast.
The actress, who won accolades for her strong role in Kerala Story, has turned to romance in Tumko Meri Kasam, which is also a biopic.
In a chat, Adah talked about the film and her career choices, and also touched on her personal life. The actress plays Indira in the biopic.
“I’m very fortunate to be playing Indira, the woman who stood strongly with her husband. When we were doing the look test for the poster, Ajay (Bhatt) sir ki ankhon mein aansoon aa gaye. I had never seen men cry. Everyone was so driven to make a good film. So, I feel lucky as an actor to be part of such a film,” she said.
On Vikram Bhatt, with whom she’s collaborating after a gap of 14 years, Adah said “I was lucky to debut in a horror film (1920) with him. It took me time to join hands again with him, simply, because I wait for makers to envision me as the characters of their story. If it’s the right time, you get it.”
Likes empty spaces
Adah, who is renting the house where the late Sushanth Singh Rajput lived, has kept it free of furniture. Asked about this unusual decision, she said, “I prefer living in an empty space. My parents have brought me up like that. Especially, in Mumbai, there is scarcity of space in flats. I love to sit on the floor. Being a dancer, I have long limbs. We dancers love to practice our art in an open space. My friends are crows, parrots, squirrels and pigeons who come and visit me on a daily basis.”
Tumko Meri Kasam is a story inspired by the life of Dr. Ajay Murdia, founder of the nationwide chain of fertility clinics — Indira IVF. Directed by Vikram Bhatt and produced by Indira Entertainment, the narrative is peppered with betrayals, ambition, boardroom politics, passion, and above all, love.
