Karisma Kapoor Makes a Comeback as an Alcoholic Sleuth

Last seen in the muddled murder mystery Murder Mubarak, Karisma Kapoor returns to familiar territory with another whodunit, this time in a far grittier avatar.
Produced by Zee Studios, Brown features Karisma as a washed-out, alcoholic investigator. She is supported by a stellar ensemble cast including Surya Sharma, Jisshu Sengupta and Soni Razdan in pivotal roles. The series signals a bold new chapter for the star, who ventured into television at the peak of her career with Karishma: The Miracles of Destiny.
Based on Abheek Barua’s acclaimed 2016 novel City of Death and directed by Abhinay Deo, Brown is a taut investigative drama set in Kolkata’s atmospheric underbelly.
Kapoor steps into the role of Rita Brown, a sharp, world-weary and recovering alcoholic investigative officer from the city’s close-knit Anglo-Indian community, who is tasked with solving the complex murder of a young woman from an influential family.
