Keep It Really Knotty, Folks
The bandana prints have taken over bags, skirts, tops, and even footwear

Life is knot complete without a good bandana. Bandana prints have been popularised by bikers who first wore them around their necks and heads. Originally designed to keep sweat at bay on long, dusty rides, these paisley pieces have moved far beyond their utilitarian roots. They’re now found in shoes, bags, skirts, tops and matching sets. The paisley pattern is gaining traction online, with high-end luxury and street fashion embracing the trend.
“Bandana isn’t just a print right now—it’s a personality. You throw on a bandana scarf, and suddenly your basic outfit has attitude,” adds Rachel Fernandes, a dental student.
Style Like A Pro
Most people wonder how to wear such a dense print. But the route is simple – a white tee, blue jeans and a bandana scarf around the neck— no rocket science!
“If you’re new to bandana prints, start small. A scarf or bag is enough to add character without overwhelming your look,” adds Neetu Singh, a stylist. If you’re feeling experimental, take it further and pair it with chunky jewellery, cargo pants, a pocket for formal suits, etc. The options are endless. But one must have an eye for what looks good. A bandana print helps to bring a pop of colour and structure to any outfit. It takes a boring, mundane look to something edgy, and that's what we need today in fashion.
Bandana Bonds
Many designers are embracing the bandana print – it’s boho chic and contemporary, perfectly aligning with Gen Z’s style. However, not everyone wants to rock a bandana cord set; it can be tricky to pull off. Don’t worry! If you’re keen on a bandana cord set, pair it with chunky gold or silver earrings and a high
updo. This will let the earrings shine without overpowering the print.
Pair bandana prints with cargo pants, oversized shirts, or sneakers for a street vibe—or contrast it with heels and a blazer for a high-low fashion moment. Use bandanas as layering pieces—under jackets, peeking through collars, or tied over shirts—to add depth without going overboard. You could even tie the bandana scarf to your handbag, which could give it an extra edge. “Bandanas are multipurpose. You can wear them while riding a bike and also for casual catch-up with friends for lunch or dinner,” says Priya Singh, a fashion stylist from Pune.
The Golden Rule
Social media has accelerated this comeback. Searches for bandana outfits have jumped by 45%, according to Pinterest, signalling a full-blown return of the paisley print. For many, styling a print this bold can feel intimidating. It’s the same cycle that brought back low-rise jeans, baby tees, and chunky sneakers—only this time, it’s paisley taking centre stage.
“Gen Z loves pieces that feel expressive but effortless, and bandana prints do exactly that—they’re bold without trying too hard,” adds Singh. When it comes to bandana prints, less is more. Paisley is intricate, detailed, and far from subtle. Avoid clashing your look with excessive jewellery, large handbags or bright shoes. Let one piece stand out and let the others complement it. Ultimately, wear the look not let it define you. In fashion, individuality is a valuable currency that can’t be easily acquired or lost. The bandana isn’t just an accessory; it’s an attitude.
