Lata Mangeshkar Enters the CBSE Curriculum

Lata Mangeshkar is now part of the CBSE curriculum. A chapter titled Aisi Bhi Baatein Hoti Hain — named after a song from the film Anupama — has been included in the new Class 9 NCERT Hindi textbook “Ganga”.

The lesson traces key moments from Lataji’s life, from beginning work as a singer at just 14 after her father’s death to support her family, to eventually becoming one of the most influential figures in Indian entertainment.

She is the first Indian musician to receive this recognition in the CBSE syllabus.
