My Mother Was My Life’

Sanjay Dutt admits he has always been surrounded by strong women. “My sisters Namrata and Priya, and my wife Maanayata—they are all very strong women. But the strongest woman in my life was my mother. She ran our home and our lives with an iron hand. No one could mess with her.”

And yet, the Mother India star pampered and spoiled Sanjay endlessly. “She never denied me anything. I just had to ask, and she would get me whatever I wanted. In my case, Dad (actor and parliamentarian Sunil Dutt) was the disciplinarian. Mom definitely pampered me,” says Sanjay.

Being the son of such a formidable woman and iconic actor has deeply shaped his life. “As a child, she was simply my mother. But as I grew older, I understood what it meant to be her son. To this day, my mom continues to inspire generations with her spirit, talent, and beauty. Yes, of course, I feel blessed to be her son.”
