Sara Arjun To Play Madhubala
What was once just a rumour is now confirmed.
What was until now only a rumour can finally be confirmed: Dhurandhar actress Sara Arjun will portray screen legend Madhubala in an upcoming biopic produced by Sanjay Leela Bhansali.
Several young actors were considered for the role. However, after meeting the film’s director, Jasmeet K. Reen, Sara has been finalised for what promises to be a definitive biopic on the iconic actress whose life was tragically cut short at the age of 36. A source close to the development reveals, “Bhansali believes Sara has the aura, gravitas and grace required to portray Madhubala. The idea is to introduce the legendary actress to a younger generation that may not fully realise the immense impact she made in such a short span of time.”
Reen, best known for directing Darlings starring Alia Bhatt, was previously set to helm a biopic on poet-lyricist Sahir Ludhianvi for Bhansali. However, that project did not materialise.
