Two More Stand-ups Under The Scanner
Complaints against Rafiq, Munawar Faruqui

After Anudeep Katikala, Andhra Pradesh police have detained another stand-up comedian, Rafiq for making jokes about Deputy Chief Minister Pawan Kalyan.
A complaint lodged at the Chilakalapudi police station in Andhra Pradesh accuses Rafiq of “abusive and derogatory remarks” against Pawan Kalyan and politician Nara Lokesh, son of Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu.
Standup comedians seem to be finding it hard to ply their trade in the growing atmosphere of intolerance.
In a related development, well-known comedian Munawar Faruqui is once again caught in controversy. A Hindu organisation has approached the city police seeking cancellation of his proposed show on Saturday in Bengaluru. The organization cites Faruqui's reputation for causing trouble with his jokes at his shows.
