Apple Working on Cheaper Apple Vision, Smart Glasses: Gurman

Expanding its foray into augmented reality, Apple is planning to release a budget version of Vision Pro headset next year.

According to the latest edition of Mark Gurman's Power On Newsletter, apart from the cheaper version of the Vision Pro headset, the company is also working on a pair of smart glasses.

According to Gurman, Apple budget Vision Pro headset will be released as early as next year and the company continues to work on the second generation of Apple Vision Pro but the release date remains unclear.

First generation of Apple Vision Pro was unveiled at Apple's WWDC keynote in 2023 and it began shipping to customers in February 2024. It cost $3,499 (over Rs 2.9 lakh) and it remains unclear on how Apple will do the cost cutting for the cheaper version. Reports suggest that the price of the cheaper version of Vision Pro headset will be around $1500 - $2000.

Meanwhile, the company is working on Smart Glasses without display, which will be a competitor to Meta's Ray-Ban Smart Glasses. In February, Gurman said that it faced delays due to technical challenges.
