Apple Working on Smart Doorbell Camera With FaceID
Apple is reportedly working on new smart doorbell camera equipped with Face ID for unlocking doors.
According to Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman, the doorbell camera could be released by the end of next year. The doorbell camera will be work just like your iPhone, the door automatically unlocks when you look at the camera. The device will be equipped with Apple’s Secure Enclave chip.
Apple is set to challenge Amazon’s Ring with their smart doorbell. The smart doorbell will work with the existing third-party smart locks that are compatible with HomeKit and also to offer a complete system on day one, the company may partner with a specific smart lock company, writes Gurman.
Gurman states that camera is also expected to use “Proxima” wireless chip. The smart doorbell is just one of the products that Apple plans to bring it to the smart home market. The tech giant plans to launch a smart home camera and new smart home displays.
