Centre Issues High Severity Warning for iPhone, iPad, Mac Users

Hyderabad: The Central government has flagged "multiple vulnerabilities" in iPhones, iPads and other Apple products that could leak sensitive information. Indian Computer Emergency Response Team (CERT-In) had issued an advisory flagging the security issues.

“Multiple vulnerabilities have been reported in Apple products which could allow an attacker to access sensitive information, execute arbitrary code, bypass security restrictions, cause denial of service (DoS) and perform spoofing attacks on the targeted system,” read the CERT-In advisory.

The centre's security advisor flagged these vulnerabilities in Apple software including iOS and iPadOS prior to 17.6 and 16.7.9, macOS Sonoma versions prior to 14.6, macOS Ventura versions prior to 13.6.8, macOS Monterey versions prior to 12.7.6, watchOS versions prior to 10.6, tvOS versions prior to 17.6, visionOS versions prior to 1.3 and Safari versions prior to 17.6.

CERT-In marked the severity of the vulnerabilities as "high" in the advisory. The central agency has asked users to apply appropriate software updates listed by Apple.

Apple recently issued the latest security updates and latest versions of the software updates are also listed on their portal.
