Crowdstrike President Accepts Most Epic Fail Award at Pwnie Awards Ceremony

Crowdstrike president Michael Sentonas has accepted the "Most Epic Fail" award at the Pwnie Awards.

This comes after the global IT outage caused by the faulty update installed online by the cybersecurity firm Crowdstrike. About 8.5 million computers around the world were affected by the IT outage.

While accepting the award, Sentonas said, "Definitely not the award to be proud of receiving but I think the team was surprised when I said straightaway that I would come and get it because we got this horribly wrong."

Sentonas said that he is heading back to headquarters and he is going to take the trophy with him.

"I want every CrowdStriker who comes to work to see it because our goal is to protect people and we got this wrong, and I want to make sure that everybody understands these things can't happen and that's what this community is about," he added.

Before signing off from the stage he said, "we'll put it in the right place, and make sure everybody sees it."

The IT outage had grounded flights, knocked banks and media outlets offline and disrupted hospitals.
