Elon Musk's X To Hide All likes For its Users
Elon Musk announced that social media platform X, formerly known as Twitter, will hide all likes by default for its users.
With this new feature, the user can see the posts that they have liked and also the post's author can see who liked their posts. Whereas, a user will no longer see who liked someone else’s post.
Elon Musk said this feature will help the user to like a post without worrying if they will be attacked for liking any post. "Important to allow people to like posts without getting attacked for doing so!" he wrote on X.
Earlier on May 22, Haofei Wang, Director of engineering at X, wrote on X, "Yeah, we are making likes private. Public likes are incentivizing the wrong behavior."
He said many people feel discouraged from liking content that might be "edgy" in fear of retaliation from trolls, or to protect their public image
"Soon you’ll be able to like without worrying who might see it. Also a reminder that the more posts you like, the better your For you algorithm will become," he wrote.
