Xiaomi smart dustbin: Dumping trash just got easier
When it comes to smartphones, Xiaomi leads the parade in the affordable mid-range segment with its feature-loaded and competitive pricing. However, the R&D team of Xiaomi's crowdfunding platform keeps brainstorming to come up with something bizarre yet useful and one example of it is the recently introduced smart dustbin.
You must be thinking what clever task can a tiny, ignored trash bin do apart from gulping down the waste. Well, it won't drastically enhance your comfort but it will open by itself to intake the trash and will close down automatically without the user having to touch it. Also, once the weight of the trash reaches 15.5 litres, it smartly packs the waste for you to get rid of it so that it can automatically place a new trash bag inside.
Assisted by a group of sensors, the device (if you may call it) figures out when a human hand is directed towards it. The detection range lies between zero to 36 cms. In order to make sure it doesn't emanate unpleasant stink out of the waste, the lid has been designed to stay airtight. It is a tad heavier than our conventional plastic or steel bearing bins weighing 3.5 kg. Adorning beige colour, onlookers might also think of it as some special kind of container until they see a user bumping litter into it.
Now, in case you are wondering how this minor piece of luxury costs, Xiaomi has priced at RMB 199 (approx Rs 2,000). That might sound expensive for a dustbin but Xiaomi's crowdfunding platform conveys that it has been supported by 11,000 users. The deliveries of the smart trash bin are expected to start on September 11 and it is available for sale on Xiaomi's crowdfunding platform Youpin.
