Device to monitor speed is here
Visakhapatnam: Are you worried over your children's tendency for riding bike at high speed that could lead to a fatal accident? To dispel such fears of elders and ensure safety of the bike riders, four engineering students of the Vizag-based Gayatri Vidya Parishad College of Engineering have invented a vehicle speed monitoring and safe communication system that would send alerts to the loved ones of the riders when they cross a preset speed limit or meet with an accident.
Moreover, the vehicles could be tracked in case of theft with the help of GPS component of the device. Moved by the death of his friend in a bike accident, B. Shanmukh Varma, a computer science student came up with this idea to device a product having speed detection and communication facilities. To realise his idea, he and his other three classmates G.S. Raghukanth Reddy, B. Abhiram, G. Avinash came together when they were in their second year.
Within one year (2015), they came up with the product with the mentorship of Dr Ravi Saripalle. They have also successfully demonstrated their product to their college authorities and patented the product in their names. They have named it as I2-bike (intelligent -cum- informative bike). The student team have already availed the patent for the device and are looking for investors.
