Xiaomi to launch Mi Home security camera with 1080p recording

The new addition to the brand's smart home category will be priced under Rs 2,000 in India.

Last year, Yi, a new brand stepped into India with the intention of stealing Xiaomi’s 360-degree camera’s spotlight by introducing a product that was priced aggressively in the market. This was the Yi Home Camera and while it had some great features, it came with just a 720p resolution that was found lacking in today’s technology climate. In a bid to wrestle their dominance in this segment, Xiaomi will be introducing the Mi Home Security Camera Basic and the highlighted feature here is undoubtedly the 1080p recording capability.

The new Xiaomi Mi Home Security Camera Basic is said to come with intelligent detection as well as excellent security surveillance. The Mi security cam is capable of recording 1080p Full HD videos with a maximum frame rate of up to 20fps. It is also equipped with a 130-degree ultra-wide angle lens and this camera covers more of the room and effectively reduces blind spots. You can see in the dark as well as it features 10 large 940nm infrared dimming lamps offering an impressive night vision range of up to 10m.

The Mi Home Security Camera Basic 1080p uses advanced AI motion detection and superior algorithms, it effectively filters out false alarms such as curtain movements, light changes and insects.

The latest security camera will be available for purchase on February 14 at Rs 1,999.
