Apple poised to resurrect a legacy product
Over the past few years, Apple has mainly been in the news for its iPhones and iPads. However, a product which literally resurrected the brand from its massive slump has taken a backseat in recent years. The iPod, when announced, put Apple back on the map and with it, the Cupertino-based brand’s revival as a tech giant had restarted. However, with smartphones evolving like never before, Apple had to rethink its strategy and the portable music player had taken a backseat. But if the latest bit of info is anything to go by, Apple believes that the iPod deserves a second coming and it will be revived to woo runners and fitness enthusiasts.
As per a report by Mac Otakara, sources have gathered a ton of information from suppliers at the CES 2019 expo indicating that Apple plans to resurrect the iPod line-up and it will be aimed at the fitness community.
Another useful bit of information is that Apple plans to ditch the lightning connector in favour of the widely used USB Type-C. As per a report by Mac Otakara, sources have informed them that engineers have begun working on a reference design but it may not make it in time for the final deadline for the 2019 iPhone XI. The iPhone with the USB Type-C port may appear on the 2020 iPhone.
While these rumours are just based on hearsay, Mac Otakara has a stellar record when it comes to Apple leaks. But as of now, this is not yet set in stone and more will be known later on this year.
