The Ultimate Driving Experience

The game takes the racing experience a notch higher and makes it more about progress and earning.

Rating: Overall 8.0

Forza Motorsport games have always been on top of the mountain but this time they have blown the contest away in terms of what the game has to offer. The sheer beauty of the game running on PC is unmatched by anything. Faithful recreation of hundreds of cars, combined with breathtaking weather helps it give gamers the best possible racing experience on the market.

Forza Motorsport 7 takes its age old experience and throws it out of the market in a complete revamp of the singleplayer experience. The new Drivers cup gives players access to various tiers of cars that must be unlocked as you go, even then cars are slightly harder to gain as credits too become a little more difficult to collect. The system of assists affecting credit payouts is no more as players must now apply mods for each race that affect pay outs. These are accessed through lootboxes, that haven’t been too well received by the community, the biggest problem being the Forza 7 VIP bonus that earlier provided a permanent 100 per cent credit boost, which is now reduced to a mere 25 consumables under the new mods system. While the progression really does make you ‘earn’ your new cars, it also drives more gamers to purchase these loot boxes to speed things up, something I’m not too fond of.

Keeping the in game economy and career aside, it’s the games technical and visual achievements that help it stand out as the best in the business. While the games visual representation of the cars’ exteriors is breathtaking, it’s the details inside that have made improvements. The dashboard cam has received major upgrades with a new camera dedicated for enthusiasts that use steering wheels and of course emphasis on details of the cars behaviour on the inside in response to your every move. The tracks themselves look absolutely stunning, with 30 locations and the new dynamic weather effects that make sure every race is different. No two races are the same under the new dynamic weather with the track and car reacting to when and how the rain strikes.

Forza Motorsport 7 is no doubt the ultimate recreation of driving some of the most beautiful cars ever made in stunning locations, however, it doesn’t really bring the love or emotion involved in driving or racing like Forza Horizon 3 did. But make no mistake, Forza Motorsport 7 is a technical marvel for racing fans, just not for everyone else.
