WhatsApp New Feature to Manage Multiple Accounts
WhatsApp has introduced an exciting new feature for its Android beta app, allowing users to manage multiple accounts on the same smartphone.
According to a report from WABetaInfo, the Meta-owned messaging platform is gradually rolling out this multi-account feature in version 2.23.18.21 of the beta app, exclusively for users who have enrolled in the beta program through the Google Play Store.
This innovative feature permits Android users to seamlessly add an extra account within their WhatsApp application through the app settings. Much like the functionality found in Instagram, users can operate multiple accounts simultaneously and effortlessly switch between them with a simple double-tap. Up until now, WhatsApp restricted usage to just one account per smartphone.
Furthermore, users will have the convenience of distinguishing notifications for the two accounts individually. The report mentions that initially, users may only be able to add one additional account to their app. However, there's potential for WhatsApp to expand this limit in future app updates. A screenshot shared in the report indicates that the feature will grant access to at least two accounts simultaneously.
This feature is presently accessible to select beta testers and is expected to roll out to other Android users in the near future.
In addition to the multi-account feature, the report also unveils the rollout of a redesigned user interface for beta testers. This redesign incorporates an enhanced profile tab within the chat list, providing users with easy access to the app settings.
Furthermore, WhatsApp is introducing the Instant Video Messages feature for both Android and iOS users. To activate this feature, users can navigate to the settings and enable the toggle for video messages. The toggle's description reads, "Lets you tap to switch between using voice and video messages."
