Electric cars! Mysuru's clean air solution
Mysuru: Riding on the success of 'Trin Trin' public bicycle sharing (PBS) initiative, the local administration launched 20 electric cars for local residents and tourist alike in order to encourage environment friendly, sustainable shared mobility and to reduce carbon emission.
On Tuesday, Mysuru DC D Randeep launched these self-drive electric cars. The project is being taken up by Mahindra electric along with Zoomcar self drive car rental company which for the first time introduced E20plus electric smart cars for rental on a large scale in Mysuru. They have plans to replicate this in Chandigarh, Delhi and Hyderabad too.
Mr Greg Moran, Co-founder and CEO of Zoom Car said, "With a battery charged for 60 minutes at the fast charging units located at Garuda mall or Country inn in city, or over night at even homes, a consumer can drive electric car upto 140km. And the cost of the electricity needed is 85 percent lesser compared to usage of petrol or diesel. The cost is ten percent lesser compared to renting a petrol or diesel vehicle. And the cost is almost 40 percent lesser when compared with hiring a transport with a driver."
