While most mobile phone sales and service tend to be clustered around metros, Samsung has chosen to concentrate on the 69 per cent that live in rural India, bringing to their doorsteps, the same services offered in 3,000 service points country wide. Last week, at its Noida factory, the company flagged of a symbolic 29 vans — one for each state - equipped with work benches, stores of spares and gensets to work where there is no electricity. A skilled technician will ride with each van as it tours villages on a regular schedule, answering service calls.
