Map my home' app to get grand launch in Kannur

The project was the brainchild of Mr Ali when he was the Director of DSLR till a few days back.

KOZHIKODE: Kannur will have a grand launch of the ‘Map my home’ project of the Directorate of survey and land records (DSLR), covering government offices with an aim to improve the efficiency. ‘Map my home’ is a mobile app available on the Android platform, which gives information on government offices such as contact, location, feedback about the services rendered, option to rate the office etc. “Based on the feedback, functioning of the office would be reviewed to rise up to the expectation of the public,” said Kannur district collector, Mir Mohammad Ali.

The project was the brainchild of Mr Ali when he was the Director of DSLR till a few days back. Already, details about 248 offices under the departments of Revenue, Registration and Local Self Government were uploaded in the app. “A majority of the uploaded offices are in Thiruvananthapuram district. This includes 41 sub-registrar offices and 26 health offices of LSGD department which falls in Thiruvananthapuram Corporation,” he added. To launch the project, mapping of the office in Google map is the first step. Currently, Taluk offices are the only government offices available in the Google map of Kannur.

“The important feature of the app is that the public can lodge their grievances about the office which would be redressed immediately. The star rating system enables the user to evaluate the office’s functioning,” said Bineesh Antony, project manager at Kerala land information mission. Before launching the project, the services of Kannur college students used to be roped in to map government offices in a competitive spirit.
