India successfully carries out the final trial of the anti-tank guided missile “Nag”

It will now undergo production and may also be deployed soon in Ladakh.

New Delhi, Oct. 22 : India on Thursday successfully carried out the final trial of the third-generation anti-tank guided missile “Nag”, and it is ready for induction into the Indian Army. It will now undergo production and may also be deployed soon in Ladakh, that could see tank action in case of a renewed confrontation with China.

India was looking for an indigenous anti-tank missile and depended on imports, such as Israel’s “Spike” anti-tank guided missiles. Nag will fulfil that need.

The DRDO said Nag’s final user trial was done at 6.45 am Thursday from the Pokhran range. It said the missile was integrated with the actual warhead and a tank target was kept at a designated range. The missile hit the target accurately defeating the armour.

The missile has “fire and forget” “top attack” capabilities with passive homing guidance to defeat all main battle tanks that have composite and reactive armour.

Defence minister Rajnath Singh congratulated DRDO and the Army for the successful trial.
