Samsung Galaxy On Max review: Wait until dark to click!
As a smart-phone maker Samsung is mostly known for its high-end devices, which may seem be a little out-of-budget for many of us. But the Korean maker has started to offer some mid-range devices with decent features and performance. One such is the latest — Galaxy On Max.
Good photography is one of the highlights of this device — though it achieves it without the . current trend of higher resolution, dual lenses, etc. Instead Samsung gets just one key feature right: aperture. An f/1.7 aperture lens helps in getting better picture quality, especially in low light conditions. We took a few shots and felt that the wide aperture indeed helped in getting proper sharpness, exposure and lighting. The rear camera resolution is 13 megapixels and comes with different modes like Pro, HDR, Panorama, etc. You can play around with the camera exposure, shutter speed and ISO in the Pro Mode to get different styles of images like shadow, sunset, silhouette, etc. There’s also a social media mode that lets you instantly share your picture on different platforms like Facebook, Whatsapp and Instagram. It also has live filters and stickers to further enhance your images. The front camera also has 13 megapixels resolution and comes with an LED flash for selfies in the dark.
Samsung has opted for a MediaTek processor instead of Snapdragon for the Galaxy On Max. It is powered by Android Nougat 7 and runs on 4GB RAM. The devices comes with a separate slots for memory card and Dual SIMs, which we feel is a convenient feature. The internal memory of 32GB is expandable up to 256GB via Micro SD card. It supports 4G LTE connectivity. The 3300mAh battery lasted us one entire day on a normal usage.
The 5.7-inch display of this device seems a little large to hold but not heavy. It has a metal body and weighs 179 grams. If you prefer a big screen then this one’s good to go. Videos and images play well on the Full HD screen. The Galaxy On Max is compatible with their digital payment solution, the Samsung Pay... a notable feature for a mid-range device. It also has a fingerprint sensor for security.
The Galaxy On Max is one of the best camera-centric devices in the mid-range segment, especially for low-light photography. The device is now available on Flipkart for Rs 16,900.
